Engineering an Artist's Vision

The Challenge:

Revlon, in collaboration with artist Theo Pinto Studio, came to us with an ambitious vision: to transform a Mini Cooper into a stunning work of art using their SinfulColors nail polish as the paint. The artistic process required the car to be lifted and held perfectly vertical at a 90-degree angle for a week. The technical challenge was immense: to engineer and fabricate a custom steel harness that could safely lift, rotate, and secure the multi-ton vehicle, effectively turning it into a stable, vertical canvas.

The FADE Approach:

Our role was to design and build the crucial piece of infrastructure that made the entire art installation possible. We approached the problem as both architects and fabricators, a core part of our FADE philosophy. We designed and engineered a robust steel 'Carness' (Car Harness), producing detailed shop drawings to guide its precise construction. The rig was then meticulously welded and assembled, creating a structural frame that was both precise and incredibly strong enough to support the car throughout the two-week live installation.

The Outcome:

The result was a seamless fusion of art and engineering. Our custom-fabricated rig performed flawlessly, providing the stable vertical canvas that artist Theo Pinto needed to execute his vision. This technical success was the invisible backbone of a wildly successful campaign for Revlon, which was broadcast on social media and resulted in 40,000 people entering to win the final art piece. It's a testament to our belief that thoughtful fabrication and engineering are often the keys to unlocking creative possibilities.

We have the expertise to combine architecture and fabrication to solve unique challenges with custom engineering and design.
