J. Neal Design is proudly located in Baltimore, MD and has been providing architectural and fabrication services to the community and beyond for 15+ years. As a Baltimore-based Passive House architect and sustainable design partner, we focus on offering fabrication, architecture, development, and education (F.A.D.E.) services to clients and collaborators seeking high-performance, design-forward solutions. From custom digital fabrication and CNC machined architectural elements to net zero residential and commercial design across Maryland and the DC region, our work spans small-scale fabrication projects to large-scale architectural developments.
We approach each project as an opportunity to deliver efficient, holistic solutions that support environmental performance, social impact, and long-term economic value.
The Principal, Jason Neal, founded this firm on a simple belief: architecture is a hands-on service. The firms passion is guiding clients through the complex journey of design and construction to create spaces that are not only beautiful but are also healthier, more efficient, and deeply connected to community.

Our Experience
Licensed architects in Maryland, Virginia, DC, and New Jersey, we’ve had the privilege of leading a diverse range of residential, commercial, mixed-use, and retail projects, as well as serving as a technical director for public art installations. Our work is grounded in a deep understanding of modern building science, including Passive House (PHIUS) standards, net zero design strategies, and deep energy retrofit systems.
We bring this expertise to projects ranging from equitable housing developments and sustainable mixed-use buildings to custom fabrication-driven retail spaces and public art initiatives.
