SHIPPING & STATEMENT...Forging a Modern Workplace in an Industrial Icon
The Challenge:
In partnership with Turner Development, we were presented with a thrilling challenge: to design and build a new headquarters for C.H. Robinson, a Fortune 500 company, within the raw, industrial shell of Baltimore's iconic Silo Point, formerly the B&O Locust Point Grain Terminal. The goal was to create a sophisticated, high-energy workplace that would reflect the company's global stature while honoring the powerful history of its new home.
The FADE Approach:
This project was a journey in collaborative creation. As Architects, we designed a space that embraces the industrial spirit of Silo Point, leaving concrete columns and ceilings exposed while inserting warm, refined elements to define the space. A key part of the vision was the "Silo Light" installation, a custom lighting feature designed to represent the old silo towers, which was recently featured in Darc Magazine. This is where our passion for Fabrication came to life; we designed and built a series of signature pieces, including a stunning custom reception desk and a dynamic, angular wood canopy that floats above the main workspace.
The Outcome:
The result is a world-class headquarters that is a true testament to the power of collaboration. The finished space is a seamless blend of industrial grit and corporate polish, creating an inspiring environment for the C.H. Robinson team. Working hand-in-glove with Turner Development, we delivered a project that is not just a building, but a new landmark for a global company and a proud, illuminated addition to the Baltimore skyline.
