ADAPTIVE & ARTIST...Crafting a Vision for Highlandtown
The Challenge:
A client approached us with a powerful vision: to see past a dilapidated lot with vacant structures in Baltimore's Highlandtown neighborhood and imagine a thriving hub for working artists. The immediate challenge wasn't about construction, but about creating a compelling, professional case for funding. They needed a complete feasibility package to apply for essential grant money and historic tax credits to make their dream a reality.
The FADE Approach:
Our role was to provide the tools to turn this vision into a viable project. Our Development process began first, with comprehensive research and reporting on the current site conditions, complex zoning constraints, and the history of the lot and its structures. Grounded in this research, our Architecture team crafted a design that respected the soul of the historic building while creating something dynamic for its new purpose. The concept carves out individual artist studios, storage, and a public gallery space, all while preserving the building's essential character. A full suite of drawings and renderings made the potential tangible for stakeholders.
The Outcome:
The result of our collaboration was a robust feasibility package, complete with in-depth research, architectural drawings, and compelling concept imagery. This package armed our client with the professional, fully-realized vision they needed to approach funders and city agencies with confidence. We provided the critical first step in the journey to transform a piece of urban blight into a valuable cultural asset for Baltimore's artists and the Highlandtown community.
We have the expertise to combine development and architecture to turn your vision into a fundable, viable project. Let's talk about your idea.
